LOCATION: ½ mile north of Horsetail Falls, east of Flanders Mountain

PERSONNEL AND RESOURCES ON THE FIRE: 1 helicopter (shared with North Eightmile Fire) and3 firefighters

TUESDAY’S ACTIVITY: Rolling out of burning material was more significant on the west side, especially in dead and down material. Firefighters assessed opportunities to control fire spread in Flanders Creek drainage using indirect fire line.

WEDNESDAY’S PLANNED ACTIVITY: Fire personnel will construct indirect handline below the sheer cliffs and rock band in Flanders Creek Drainage and continue to determine suppression tactics to keep the fire from establishing in Flanders Creek drainage and moving north.

CLOSURES & OTHER INFORMATION: AREA CLOSURE – East Fork Hyalite - East Fork of Hyalite closed including Palisade Falls Trailhead and picnic area, Emerald Lake Trailhead and Flanders Creek drainage.

FIRE WEATHER: On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to be much like Monday with high temperatures into the 80s and 90s with relative humidity to drop to around 14-20%. Winds will be out of the west with gusts from 10 to 20 miles per hour. Dry thunderstorms are predicted for Tuesday afternoon, and will become a mix of wet and dry Tuesday night through Wednesday. Fire activity is expected to increase around 11:00 a.m. as temperatures begin to increase.
