BOZEMAN, Mont. -

The Montana Department of Transportation will not change the speed limit on Valley Center Drive.

MDT conducted a study of the speed limit and traffic on Valley Center Dr. between the spur that runs underneath Interstate 90 to Jackrabbit Lane south of Belgrade. The study suggested the speed limit be raised to 50 miles an hour.

County Commissioner and some drivers wanted to the speed limit increased to 55 miles an hour.  But many folks who live along the corridor wanted the speed limit to remain at 45 miles an hour.

Representatives from MDT told NBC Montana that around 10 people showed up at last week's meeting in Helena to request that speed limit remain 45 mph.  They also explained that the number of written comments for keeping the speed limit at 45 greatly outweighed public comments in support an increase.
