MISSOULA, Mont. -

A Missoula man pleaded not guilty to a felony burglary charge for an incident earlier this month.

Prosecutors claim William Christopher Sperry went in to a Missoula Alberstons, handed the clerk a note demanding money and left on foot.

Sperry didn't get far though, off duty Missoula County Sheriff's Deputy Paige Pavalone heard the call in her car and spotted Sperry walking near the grocery store.

In Missoula County District Court Wednesday, Sperry pleaded not guilty. His attorney told the judge the case will likely be resolved soon and asked for another hearing for next week.
