KALISPELL, Mont. -

Flathead County officials say a man wanted for violating his probation now faces an arson charge for allegedly setting fire to a house when deputies arrived to arrest him.

The Daily Inter Lake reports officers learned 40-year-old Daniel Lee English was at a house north of Kalispell. Sheriff Chuck Curry says officers knocked on the door Tuesday night and English tried to run out the back door. An officer was there, so he ran back inside and threatened to burn the house down.

Curry says officers saw English pour gasoline and start a fire. He was arrested when he ran out the back door.

Firefighters rescued a dog from the house and used a pet oxygen mask recently donated to the department to revive it. English also faces an animal cruelty charge.
