GREAT FALLS, Mont. -

A 39-year-old Billings man is charged with attempted deliberate homicide after a report that he broke into a house near Great Falls and fired a crossbow at the resident.

Adam Sanchez Jr., made an initial appearance in District Court in Great Falls Monday on several felony charges included attempted robbery, assault with a weapon and misdemeanor charges for fleeing police, speeding and reckless driving.

Court records say the robbery was reported at about 1 a.m. Friday. Cascade County sheriff's deputies who responded passed the suspect's pickup on the way to the victim's residence and tried to stop the driver. The driver sped up. Prosecutors say his female passenger called dispatchers and said Sanchez had a gun and was going to shoot if the deputies didn't stop the chase.
