LIVINGSTON, Mont. -

The following is a press release from the city of Livingston:

Public Emergency!

The irrigation ditch near north N street breached at approximately 8pm tonight. The water is overflowing from the ditch and flowing downhill into the tiered apartments near N street.

Water was flowing pretty steadily all day and people were stacking sandbags in the area to protect property but the situation became an emergency once the water overflowed the irrigation ditch.

We have evacuated several residents from there area and have opened the civic center as a shelter for anyone impacted by this emergency.

If you are looking for anyone who may be impacted you may find them at the civic center which is located near the corner of south 2nd street and River Road across from the city pool.

Livingston requesting volunteers to help fill sandbags at the city utility complex off of Bennett street.

We'll provide updates as they become available.

NBC Montana has a reporter on the scene and will post updates as we learn more.
