LIBBY, Mont. -

Monday evening in Libby community members gathered to dedicate the Lincoln County Veterans monument.

More than 500 people attended the dedication in Riverfront Park in Libby. Speakers took turns talking to the crowd, including board members and former U.S. Senator and Marine Conrad Burns.

The memorial was dedicated to the veterans who have served, are serving and will serve in the future. It was emotional for many of the speakers who are veterans.

One member of the Veterans Board was pleased to announce his veteran brothers who served with him in war came to the dedication service today.

"They're here today to help us celebrate our dedication. They are the real deal, ladies and gentlemen. I can confirm that they are true American heroes," said Terry Andreessen.

The idea and statue were created over two years. The money for the statue -- $150,000 -- came from donations.
