A sign of summer's arrival comes with the opening of Lake McDonald Lodge and several campgrounds at Glacier National Park.

Our cameras captured staffers prepping gardens, cabins, even setting up for a weekend wedding at the historic lodge. NBC Montana caught up with Sydney Roop, a new employee from Georgia. She visited Glacier last summer, fell in love, and knew immediately she had to apply for a job. Roop is looking forward to hiking many trails, especially the ones in the alpine section of the park.

"They're just mountains I've never seen before," said Roop. "I live in Colorado in the winter and we have our mountains but mountains aren't like this! The terrain down here with all the trees and the moss? It's other worldly."

Tourists are most anticipating the opening of the popular Going to the Sun Road and look to come back when plowing is complete.
