Voters approve Monforton School District Bond

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The following is a news release from the Monforton School District.

Voters in the Monforton School District approved a $2.9 million bond that will add three new classrooms, renovate the current lunchroom back to a classroom, and add a new cafeteria/community room to the north school.  The bond will also provide for site work to help increase fire accessibility.  The final tally of votes for the mail-in ballot reported by the Gallatin County Election Office was 430 votes for the bond and 249 votes against.

Monforton Superintendent Darren Strauch said, "The community support for this project has been great.  We had parents walking door-to-door handing out information and answering questions and others helping make sure people in the district were registered to vote.  I think voters really understood the need for additional space to continue providing the strong educational program in place at Monforton.  We are excited to start the expansion project in May 2014."

A committee of District administrators and school board trustees will begin the process of identifying firms to handle the General Contracting of the project next week.  Completion of the addition is expected for March 2015.
