Jeffrey Lackman allegedly smoked 'meth' before shooting death of Butte man (9-6-13)

BUTTE, Mont. - Butte-Silver Bow prosecutors filed new documents in the case against Jeffrey Lackman, who is accused of shooting another man.

We dug through the five-page court document filed on Thursday. It outlines what police allege happened the night Mark Partelow was shot.

Charging documents say the accused shooter, Jeffrey Bruce Lackman, smoked meth with friends before going over to Partelow's house on Casey Street.

According to witness statements made to police, Lackman was with a group that went to Partelow's home to retrieve personal items that belonged to a woman.

In the documents, investigators say Lackman and Partelow's girlfriend started arguing, and when Partelow stepped into the fight, that's when Lackman allegedly shot him.

Prosecutors say Lackman and the woman fled in a car driven by Juan Jose Romero.
Romero is charged with deliberate homicide by accountability. Police arrested Lackman and Romero outside of Roundup on August 7.

Both Lackman and Romero appeared before a Butte-Silver Bow judge the following day.

Police also found what they believe is the gun used in the shooting, a 9mm handgun, in Jefferson County.
