BUTTE, Mont. - St. James Healthcare in Butte secured a $3.59 million donation for the hospital's cancer center. The money comes from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley charitable trust.
According to the hospital, the money will be used to buy and house a new linear accelerator for the St. James Cancer Center.
The new accelerator will have the ability to rotate completely around a patient, targeting tumors from multiple angles with very small beams of radiation.
The hospital hopes to have the new machine up and running by the end of the year.
