Police search for suspect after armed robbery at Butte casino

BUTTE, Mont. - Butte police are hunting for an early Monday morning robbery suspect.

According to authorities, a man walked into the Montana Lil's Casino on Harrison Avenue just before 7:30, pulled a gun and demanding cash.

Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester said police received the call alerting them to an armed robber at 7:26.

"Our first units arrived at 7:28, so it took us 2 minutes to get there," explained Sheriff Ed Lester. "When they did arrive, the suspect had left."

Sheriff Lester said the man entered Montana Lil's with a handgun and demanded money.

We're told he made off with a small, undisclosed amount of money, fleeing south on Harrison.

Detectives used surveillance video to generate a picture of the suspect during the robbery, but they also released a second picture showing a man who is being a called a "person of interest."

The second picture was taken in the Town Pump next door just a few minutes before the crime.

Lester said the men are wearing similar outfits.

"Don't try to approach this individual," Lester said. "Obviously this individual is dangerous and desperate to pull off an act like this, so we're interested in getting this person incarcerated as quickly as we can."

Police tell us he is a white man, between 5'9" and 6'0" tall.

He has sandy blonde hair, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, and a tan hat with what might be a fox racing logo.
