BUTTE, Mont. - Montana Tech is busy this summer renovating its football field. The field is called "Digger Turf" and by the end of this summer it will be the only artificial playing field in the Frontier Conference.
School officials tell us it's a symbol of progress for Montana Tech. A new field will attract better players to the school.
Not just the football team will take advantage of the field. Club sports will use it, too.
Tech tells us it will also enhance events like graduation. The money for the renovation was raised from private donations last year.
The school is three weeks into the project and working on excavation and installing a drainage system. They hope to be done by September.
