BUTTE, Mont. - Montana Tech named its football field after Bob Green.
NBC Montana has covered Green for years, and supporters told us he deserved the honor because of his dedication to student athletes on and off the field. His name will be stitched into both sidelines of the field.
Tech told us Green said he is humbled and grateful for the honor.
Montana Tech Sports Information Director Nick Bowsher said, "Coach Bob Green is our longest tenured coach that we've had at Montana Tech and our 'winningest' coach. As many people know around the community, he is an icon here, and when you think about Montana Tech and Montana football, his 'Greenisms' always pop into your mind."
Green's impact on the Mining City and the Orediggers is significant.
Green spent 24 years coaching Tech, winning 140 games. He won the Frontier Conference 16 times and took home the championship back in 1996.
