Lightning strike disrupts phone service at Butte 911 Center

BUTTE, Mont. - A weekend lightning strike cut phone service to multiple important buildings in the Butte-Silver Bow area, including the 911 Center.

Around 3:30 on Saturday afternoon, the bolt stopped service at the courthouse, Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement building, the Detention Center, and the fire department.

Police tells us their main concern was getting the 9-1-1 Center up and running, and it is now operational.

The administrative lines at the Law Enforcement Center are still down, and police are using cell phones.

Undersheriff George Skuletich said, "we're up and running pretty good as far as public goes, as far as administratively, we're still lacking a full phone system."

BSB police ensure us that 911 is working, and they are working quickly to resolve the issue.
