BUTTE, Mont. - About 300 people gathered on Thursday at Butte Central High School for a statewide leadership conference.
The conference is aimed at helping people share ideas and strategies on how to effectively deal with different types of pressures that may include drinking or doing drugs.
Representatives from popular leadership groups like Butte Cares, Mariah's Challenge and Above the Influence worked with area students.
One student explained to NBC Montana just how far his group traveled to bring the Above the Influence campaign to Butte.
"Above the Influence has just been added to the area and it's becoming statewide and a group of us went to D.C. a couple years ago," said Northey Tretheway, a 12th grade student. "We brought back a lot of the Above the Influence techniques that are used today and taught to a lot of the kids here today," concluded Thretheway.
