BUTTE, Mont. - Kellogg's recently announced a voluntary recall for one of its more popular products. The recall states that shards of glass have been found inside the company's Special K with Red Berries cereal.
Now grocery stores nationwide are pulling the possibly dangerous boxes of cereal.
Reports of the glass being discovered began circulating around the United States. That's when Kellogg's issued the voluntary recall. As scary as it may sound, some residents tell us they're not too afraid and will continue to eat the product.
"I checked my sack this morning but I figured all of the glass would go to the bottom," said Donna Rankin, a Dillon resident.
Other people are simply wondering why this even happened in the first place.
"It just makes you wonder how it even got in there," added Vaeda Carey, a long-time buyer of the cereal.
The packages affected by the recall are:
- 11.2 ounce packages, proof of purchase code: 38000 59923 Better if used before: December 02, 2013
- The 22.4 ounce twin pack, proof of purchase code: 38000 78356 Better if used before: November 30, 2013
- 37 ounce packages, proof of purchase code: 38000 20940 Better if used before: November 30, 2013
If you have boxes matching any of the above descriptions Kellogg's recommends you contact them immediately at 1-800-962-1413.
Customers with the recalled boxes will receive a coupon for a free replacement. The company says there have been no reports of injuries.
