"Paul Babb, the former chief executive officer of Butte-Silver Bow, has joined NorthWestern Energy as its Manager, Community Relations based in Butte.
Babb will be responsible for working with residents, businesses, local government entities and community groups in a variety of areas, including economic development, charitable giving and volunteerism.
"Paul brings a wealth of community experience and knowledge that will greatly help us with community outreach in Butte and the surrounding communities," said Rick Burt, Director, Community Relations for NorthWestern Energy.
Babb served as Butte-Silver Bow's chief executive officer from 2005 through 2012. In that role, he served as the city and county's chief administrative officer, managing all municipal government operations and its relationships with the public and government leaders, along with business and civic organizations. He developed and managed a $130 million annual budget and provided oversight and management to 15 departments and 500-plus employees.
Prior to his chief executive role, Babb served a term as a Butte-Silver Bow commissioner, an elected position that helps direct the course of city-county government. His work experience includes positions with Touch America, InTouch Solutions, the National Center for Appropriate Technology and the Butte-Silver Bow Chamber of Commerce.
Babb holds a degree in Professional and Technical Communications from Montana Tech in Butte."
