Daines visits with quilters sewing for soldiers

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Congressman Steve Daines and his wife, Cindy, paid a visit to Montana's chapter of Quilts of Valor in Bozeman in honor of Memorial Day.

The group meets once a month to sew quilts for combat war veterans.

They say they've grown leaps and bounds since they started up over five years ago.

Several of the members have ties to the military but all have the same mission- to say "thank you" to those who serve.

Daines chatted with quilters as they worked away at their machines.

They tell us it's an honor for the congressman and his wife to come and see what they're doing for veterans.

"It's a privilege for us to be doing something very minute as a thank you to our veterans, but I know he's concerned about all of our military members who are protecting our freedom," explains Quilts of Valor's Sheila Gaub.

Montana's chapter of Quilts of Valor has completed over 500 quilts to send to Montana soldiers across the globe.
