BOZEMAN, Mont. - Commissioners will decide Monday whether to use just over $1 million from the Trails, Open-Space and Parks Bond Fund to expand Bozeman Ponds Park. Plus, they'll look at an extra $255,000 for Ravalli Street and Pond Row Construction.
It's a two-phase project for the expansion and development of the 12-acre area north of Bozeman Ponds Park.
Phase one is the purchase of the land by the Gallatin Valley Land Trust in partnership with HAVEN. From there, GVLT proposes the city buy nine acres for $600,000.
Phase two includes a request to provide close to $440,000 for the development of the park land, including a natural park, an off-leash dog exercise area, trail connections, restrooms and a parking lot.
"I think it's a good idea. It'd be better than putting houses or apartments there. We play over there anyway so, I guess it wouldn't change much," says Bozeman resident David Howard.
