Butte robbery suspects involved in Ore. standoff


BUTTE, Mont. - NBC Montana has learned that a man and a woman wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Butte are in custody after a standoff in Lincoln City, Oregon.

KGW in Portland reports authorities confirmed to reporters late Friday evening that the two people involved were Dale Edward Wallace, 30, and Sarah Jo Johnson, 30.

We're told Wallace and Johnson were sitting in a dark sedan in a standoff with police Friday evening, when Wallace got out of the car with a gun.

KGW reports police hit Wallace with a patrol vehicle and he was taken to the hospital.

The standoff with Johnson ended right around 9:00 p.m. local time.

Wallace and Johnson are believed to have held up the Coins N Cards shop on Harrison Ave. on Monday, December 30.  

The shop owner told police that man and woman walked into his shop armed with a gun and ordered him to the back of the store where he was tied up. According to police, Wallace and Johnson spent about 20 minutes in the store and stole guns, money, collectable coins and the shop owner's car.

The vehicle was found abandoned in at a motel in Rocker, about 7 miles west of Butte.
