Butte High parking lot to be fixed

BUTTE, Mont. - The Butte School District Board of Trustees approved the $38,000 repair to Butte High's new parking lot.

The money to fix the damage is coming out of the district's general fund, but we're told insurance will eventually pay for it.

A rainstorm on September 13 left the parking lot buckled and cracked. It was only a few weeks old.

The rebuilt lot will include gutter and storm drains in hopes that another heavy rain won't damage the lot again.

"When the system pressurizes again when water gets too much to be taken in it will come out and go across the surface, and with the new curb gutter on the side, it should never pressurize up again and lift it up to force the water or anything," said Jed Hoopes, Butte School District #1 Facilities Director.

The school district hopes to have the project done in the next week.
