Brick Breeden Fieldhouse to undergo renovations

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse will be getting upgrades starting the beginning of May. Folks with MSU say they want to make the venue more intimate for basketball events.

Auxiliary Services Director Tom Stump tells us the first step is to replace the old flooring. It's delaminating in some spots and has mercury in it.

He says they aim to replace seating at the lower level with seat backs on all four sides of the court and put up a curtain so that patrons feel closer to the action on the court.

Stump tells us they will also improve the sound system.

"Just like we did with football, we want to have a better event venue for our basketball events and treat our patrons at basketball like we did with football," says Stump.

The renovations will cost $2.6 to $2.7 million. The money will come from student fees, university and athletic funds.

Stump tells us they're currently in the process of selecting an architect. Next, they'll choose a construction group.

The changes will begin right after Montana State's graduation, meaning Bozeman High will have to have theirs somewhere else.

They'll also have to move a 4-H event and several sports camps while they undergo renovations.
