Bozeman eyes putting mansion on open market

BOZEMAN, Mont. - City officials in Bozeman have approved a plan aimed at preserving a 113-year-old landmark mansion.
The Bozeman City Commission on Monday voted unanimously to terminate a contract with Exergy Friends of Story Mansion after finding the group in default of its agreement to buy the mansion.
Commissioners say they are willing to take offers from private parties, nonprofit groups or others interested in buying the three-story building and carriage house.
Commissioners say they will sell the mansion on the open market for no less than 90 percent of its appraised value.
The city bought the property two years ago for $1.3 million amid fears it would be torn down and spent another $2 million in renovations. More renovation work remains.
