Bozeman antique store goes up in flames

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Everyone is safe after a fire tore through an antique store in Bozeman Monday night.

Firefighters got a call around 9:30p for a structure fire burning on Bobcat Drive off Huffine Lane.

A fire chief on scene tells us a vehicle was on fire, parked next to country mall antiques when the fire spread.

They say they worked to keep folks nearby safe and protect surrounding structures.

When they arrived on scene, first responders faced heavy flames and were forced to take special safety measures

"We are in what we call a defensive operation on the building involved meaning we are staying out of the collapse zone of that building so, we're trying to mitigate any risk to our firefighters as we can by just staying clear of that building, spraying water from the exterior," says Rae Fire Chief Brian Nickolay.

Nickolay says no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Bozeman Fire, Amsterdam Fire, Big Sky Fire, Central Valley Fire, Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol also responded, just to name a few.

The fire is still under investigation. Click to here to check out a slideshow of photos taken of the fire.
