Belgrade school district narrows search for high school principal

BELGRADE, Mont. - This week the Belgrade School District closed its search for a new high school principal. Now the focus is on looking at all 16 candidates.

Belgrade School Superintendent Candy Lubansky says around one-third of the candidates are local to Montana, and the others are from surrounding states like Idaho and Washington.

Lubansky could not tell us why former Principal Russ McDaniel decided to resign. She says the focus is on what is next. Lubansky says they will continue with the interview process and should have the next principal in place and ready to go by early August.

"The high school has been considered a block schedule, so that conversation needs to continue. We have been revisiting our attendance policy, so that is always an important discussion to be a part of. For all districts now, the implementation of Montana standards is really important," said Lubansky.
