Bank partnership gives cancer support community big boost

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Cancer Support Community in Bozeman got a big boost Wednesday morning. A partnership between Rocky Mountain Bank and the Cancer Support Community netted the organization more than $4,000. The bank donates two and a half cents every time a person swipes a Rocky Mountain debit card with the pink ribbon on it.

We are told the money is going to an education and support retreat for women battling all stages of cancer.

Vicky Reynolds is the development and volunteer director at the Cancer Support Community. She tells us the donation will help about 15 women attend the retreat.

"Sometimes I get so choked up because I can't even talk about this kind of donation, and how we have worked for a year to build up this account and have such a fabulous donation. It is wonderful because this is probably one-fifth of what we need to go to Mending in the Mountains, so it is significant," said Reynolds.

Since the pink ribbon debit card program launched in May 2012, Rocky Mountain Bank has donated $24,000 to cancer support groups. The bank's parent organization, Heartland Financial USA Inc., has contributed $110,000 since 2012.
