BUTTE, Mont. -

Kelly Knievel is asking the attorney general's office to investigate the nonprofit group that has staged the Evel Knievel Days festival in Butte.

The son of the late daredevil told said he mailed a complaint to Attorney General Tim Fox saying he believes Evel Knievel Week Inc. didn't follow its bylaws. He also is seeking information about the group's finances over the past three years.

Fox's deputy communications director Anastasia Burton said Monday that the office generally requires a specific complaint of wrongdoing along with some credible evidence of the violation in order to start an investigation.

Members of Evel Knievel Week recently cut ties with the festival in the fallout of a struggle over management and control of the three-day event. A new group has been created to stage this year's festival.
