UPDATE: 2 Suspects in custody after clerk shot in attempted robbery

MISSOULA, Mont. - Two suspects are now in custody after an early morning attempted robbery at a truck stop outside of Missoula. Sheriff's Deputies plan to search their houses. They have also interviewed another person who may have knowledge of the crime.

Police found the suspects thanks to calls that came in to Crimestoppers. They are looking to charge them with attempted homicide and armed robbery.

Sami Rodwater, a friend of the victim and East Missoula resident, says he only worked at Ole's for a short time. "He is the nicest guy you could ever meet, a big teddy bear of a man," said Rodwater.

The following is a press release from the Missoula County Sheriff's Department:

Two adult men connected to the Ole's shooting are now in custody and being interviewed by Missoula County Sheriff's Detectives. The names of the suspects will be released after they have been formally charged in the case. The investigation is still in an early phase as we continue to conduct interviews with both suspects and witnesses and serve search warrants on locations where arrests occurred. We would like to thank the community for the several tips we received through our Crime Stoppers tip line which aided the investigation early on.

The last suspect to be apprehended was located in his home on Montana Ave. in East Missoula. Several neighbors were asked to evacuate the area prior to the arrest due to the risk that the suspect posed. We would like to let people in the area know that it is safe to return to their homes.

Finally, the victim's family has notified us that he has been in and out of surgery this morning and has been upgraded from critical to critical but stable. We again want to offer our thoughts and prayers to the victim and his family and we hope that he makes a speedy recovery.

Although the suspects have been located and apprehended, if anyone has information about this case we urge them to contact Detective Sgt. TJ McDermott by calling 258-4810.
