MISSOULA, Mont. - Montana Highway Patrol troopers have confirmed that two people are dead following a rollover crash on I-90, west of Drummond, and east of Missoula. The rollover occurred in the area of mile marker 138.
Authorities have not yet identified the deceased. Troopers tell NBC Montana an SUV veered off into the median, then overcorrected and rolled.
Authorities say both occupants of the vehicle were ejected, and the vehicle appears to be from Colorado. The victims did not appear to be wearing seatbelts.
One trooper tells NBC Montana that an Army medic and a doctor drove by the scene of the crash, and stopped and tried to help out. Traffic was delayed on the Interstate for at least 30 minutes near the scene of the crash.
Officials are still investigating, and it is not yet clear if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
