Top Missoula officials now required to live in city limits

MISSOULA, Mont. - The debate over requiring top Missoula city officials to live in the city limits has come to an end.

Monday night Missoula City Council members passed the ordinance with a 7-to-5 vote.

That means all top city officials will have to live in the city limits, including the fire chief and city attorney.

The ordinance states current officials will be grandfathered in and exceptions can be made for future employees to live out of the city limits.
