MISSOULA, Mont. - A Sonic Drive-In franchise owner is continuing to work with the city of Missoula to open a restaurant.
In June Montana Sonic franchise owner Danny Miller announced his plans for a N. Reserve Street location between Taco Time and Cenex. Miller originally had plans to open the restaurant in September, but a Sonic public relations representative said it likely won't open until winter 2014.
"Our franchisee and the SONIC Development team are currently working with the city on the plans for the building. It is our hope to open winter of 2014. The location is 4740 N Reserve Street. Much more to come on this," wrote Vice President, Public Relations Patrick Lenow in an email Tuesday.
City of Missoula Communications Director Ginny Merriam confirmed the franchise is working with the city. She said an original permit application was submitted and that the city reviewed it, noted some changes and passed it on to the architect. Merriam said work has also started with the health department.
In June, Miller said a second Missoula location is in the works and that he was trying to secure space in Kalispell as well.
Miller recently purchased the state's other two Sonic Drive in Billings and Great Falls.
The franchise got its start in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
