MISSOULA, Mont. - A SkyWest Airlines flight reached its destination in Salt Lake City after sliding off the main runway at the Missoula International Airport.
Freezing fog and ice caused the plain to slide off the runway around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, shutting down commercial air traffic for just under two hours.
44 passengers and three crew members were on the Delta Connection Flight. They were all bused back to the airport while mechanics took a look at the plane.
Many re-booked their flights after missing connections. But most were in good spirits.
"That's okay, it's part of the adventure," said passenger Cindy Kagan.
It was an 'adventure' that doesn't happen often at the Missoula International Airport.
"I've been here going on nine years and in that time we haven't had one," said Airport Director Cris Jensen.
Jensen said the airport uses sand and other deicers to clear the runway. Crews evaluated the ramps and taxi ways too.
