MISSOULA, Mont. - Timothy Hoppe, the man accused of stabbing another man in the chest in the Shopko parking lot Monday, appeared in court today and Judge Karen Orzech set bail at $250,000.
According to court documents, it happened on June 24th when David Seyler and Hoppe were drinking together in a van in the alley behind Shopko. Prosecuters say Seyler claims Hoppe asked him if he wanted to "live or die" and stabbed him in the chest.
The affidavit says Seyler approached some police cars in the Shopko parking lot, revealed his wounds and went to the hospital.
Detectives say Seyler told them that Hoppe was parked in a nearby alley and wearing black pants and a blackjacket.
Police say they found a man fitting this description in a white van in the alley behind Shopko and took him into custody.
Officers report they found a folding knife in his possession.
