Robbery suspect on the run in East Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula sheriff's deputies are searching for a robbery suspect believed to have hit the Kwik Stop Sinclair station in East Missoula. It happened at 505 Highton Street.

Officials tell us the man threatened a clerk with a knife about 10 a.m., forced him into a cooler, told him to stay there, then robbed the store of its cash.

Sheriff's Deputy Paige Pavalone told us the clerk remained in the cooler until he heard the bell buzz.

"He looked up front and saw the coast was clear and that the suspect left," said Pavalone, "and that's when he returned to the front and called 911."

Investigators are searching for a burly, white man, about 5-foot-10, with brown eyes and a gruff, demanding voice. He's described as being dressed all in black, including a black mask covering his face. He may be 30 to 32 years old.

The cashier told deputies the robber fled west on foot. But he didn't know if he remained on foot, or found his way to a vehicle. The store is just off Interstate 90.
