Professionals talk to 7th graders about future careers

HAMILTON, Mont. - About 300 seventh graders in the Bitterroot explored career opportunities at the Find Your Future Fair in Hamilton.

Students heard from dozens of professionals, a veterinarian, a professional athlete and a grocer. Even NBC Montana's Matt Gray gave youngsters insight into his profession.

Gray said it was "great to be there, and to try to get people excited about the weather and a career in science."

Youth leaders hope the fair sparks a passion in kids.

"It showed me different paths in my life with my career," said Corvallis 7th grader Garrett Brown.

Fair organizers said middle school is a good time to start showing kids the vast number of career choices they have, and to help them channel energy into making good decisions.
