MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula's Union Gospel Mission is moving to the old Sweetheart Bakery Outlet on West Broadway.
The Mission used to be called Missoula 316 Rescue Mission, and is located several blocks away from the old bakery.
NBC Montana talked to several neighborhood residents living nearby, worried about an increase in transient traffic, and neighborhood safety, especially for families and businesses.
But Union Gospel said more spacious surroundings will consolidate office space and give the poor and homeless more opportunity.
First, improved meals, said Mission executive director, Candace Day, "but in addition to that, provide the classroom, the work space and opportunity. We want to be able to provide return to work programs. We would love to see business get involved and offer internships."
Union Gospel is a Christian based agency that relies on private donations.
A new Poverello Center is also going up on West Broadway.
