Missoula police search for arsonist, person of interest

MISSOULA, Mont. - In early April we told you how Missoula police were on the hunt for a suspected arsonist who hit two locations downtown on April 13.  Now we have surveillance photos of the arsonist and a person of interest.

The first fire took place at the Senior Citizen Center in Missoula. Surveillance video shows a male and female arguing near the scene of the second arson fire, near the Boone and Crockett Club downtown.

Police say they want to talk to the woman about the incident.

Tuesday afternoon we dug a little deeper and spoke with Sergeant Scott Pastian, with the Missoula Police Department.  He tells us even if she wasn't directly involved in the crime they still want to talk to her and her male companion about the incident.

"It'd be improbable that they didn't know what was going on or they weren't somehow connected," he said.

Police tell NBC Montana they're looking for a thin man in his 20s.  At the time of the arson they say he was wearing a checkered reflective coat.

Detectives tell us they hope to find the woman who they believe can identify the man wanted for questioning in the two fires.

If you have any information regarding the arson or you can identify anyone in the photos, you're urged to call Crimestoppers at 721-4444.
