MISSOULA, Mont. - Drama unfolded Sunday as the Missoula Police Department responded to the 500 block of Burton, off Broadway in Missoula.
It all started when MPD received a call saying a 20-year-old Missoula man was allegedly heading to an acquaintance's house to show off a gun.
According to MPD spokesman Scott Hoffman, police located the suspect around 3:20 Sunday afternoon near Secret Seconds, the YWCA run thrift store. Police asked the suspect to get off his bike. The man did not comply, and allegedly led police on a low-speed chase. Police say the man jumped off his bike in the Secret Seconds' parking lot, ran across Broadway and behind the City Lodge Motel.
There, MPD officers say the suspect reached for his waistband. NBC Montana is told that an officer fired a warning shot that encouraged the suspect to surrender.
Police were still on scene Sunday night trying to locate the suspect's weapon, and ask the public to call the MPD if they know anything.
Hoffman says the suspect will most likely appear in court on Tuesday.
