Missoula police detain snowboard theft suspect


MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula police issued a news release to announce they had detained the suspect believed behind the theft of thousands of dollars of snowboards.

The gear was stolen from a vehicle parked at a North Reserve hotel about two weeks ago.

At the time, police told us a tip led them to a house on the 3600-block of Stephens Avenue where they reportedly found the loot. 

Friday the department issued the following news release:

On March 15, 2014 the Missoula Police Department received a report of a theft that had occurred from a hotel parking lot located in the 3700 block of N. Reserve St.

Thousands of dollars worth of Snowboards & Snowboarding gear, as well as miscellaneous vehicle parts were stolen from a vehicle.

A search warrant was served the following day and nearly all of the property was recovered, and a suspect was identified. Investigators had been in contact with the suspect, however until this time his level of cooperation had not included surrendering to police.

This morning, at approximately 8:30am, the suspect turned himself in to Missoula Police Officers, and is currently detained in the Missoula County Jail in connection with the theft.
