MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula crews are hard at work plowing snow throughout town, but harsh wind and snow conditions are slowing the progress. As of roughly noon Friday, sixteen pieces of equipment were out, working to clear the snow. The team was focusing on top priority roads, like Russell and Higgins. Then the crews will begin work on side streets.
Missoula Street Maintenance Superintendent Brian Hansel tells NBC Montana that folks who don't need to be traveling should stay off the roads.
"The snowfall, coupled with the wind, is making it difficult. Our progress is moving slow. Everything we have is out and we're just trying to keep up with keeping our priorities going," said Hensel.
The teams expect to work 24 hours a day through the weekend.
