Missoula fire officials urge neighbors and volunteers to leave Mount Jumbo area

MISSOULA, Mont. - Fire officials tell NBC Montana the avalanche danger on Mount Jumbo is so high they are urging volunteers and a select group of homeowners to evacuate.

Officials tell us five homes are affected.

They say they are worried the snow on Mount Jumbo is unstable and has reloaded.  That increases the danger for another avalanche.

Fire officials say they are working with Missoula Police to tape off the area so people are not close to the area considered high risk.
