MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Thursday night who they say beat and kidnapped his girlfriend.
Deputies said the incident started at a motel in Dillon during an argument between 33-year-old Joseph Goulet and his 22-year-old girlfriend.
When the argument escalated, the woman told deputies Goulet struck her in the face, smothered her with a pillow, and asked her "Do you want to die, or do you want to stay with me?"
Goulet then allegedly drove the woman more than 170 miles to Missoula County.
Goulet's friends and brother reportedly found the two asleep in Goulet's vehicle parked at Kreis Pond, and when they woke up the woman, deputies said she told them what had happened.
They men reportedly took her to a residence in Frenchtown, and Goulet's brother dialed 911.
Goulet arrived at the house shortly after that, and when deputies arrived, they arrested him.
Goulet was scheduled to appear in Missoula County Justice Court, but now he's now being transported to face charges in Beaverhead County.
