MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula County commissioners ordered Stage 1 fire restrictions effective on August 1.
Those restrictions prohibit camp fires except in designated campgrounds. Those grounds will be posted.
Commissioners also signed an emergency proclamation for fire season 2013.
"What that does is allow incident commanders and the sheriff some additional authority under the emergency operations plan," said emergency management director Chris Lounsbury. "Should they need it, if a wildland fire starts it allows them to close roads or to even do things like order evacuations without having to go to the board of county commissioners, first for that initial attack period."
Stage 1 fire restrictions also will be imposed on state and national forests on August 1.
