MISSOULA, Mont. - Montana's quickly changing winter roads? There's an app for that.
There's no doubt winter driving in Montana can be treacherous. Icy, windy are snow-packed are just a few of the conditions that Montana drivers face.
While there's nothing drivers can do to change that, there is way to stay on top of it -- the Montana Department of Transportation mobile application. In less than five minutes you can install it and get an update before hitting the road.
"It is updated constantly from our road reports that we send in from the truck drivers out on the road," said Jack May at the Missoula office of the Montana Department of Transportation.
Those constant updates can be crucial in Montana with quickly changing conditions. So it's a good tool before getting on the interstate and to check along the way.
"Wet roads can change to black ice in just a matter of a few miles," said May.
The app has just about every detail a driver could want -- information about snow, ice, fog and even links to roadway cameras to give drivers a real look at what they're headed for.
The app can be downloaded for free. For more information click here.
