LIBBY, Mont. - The following is a release from the Montana Highway Patrol.
On February 27, 2014, Montana Department of Transportation workers discovered a crashed car on Highway 56 near the 26.7 mile marker and reported the incident to Troy Dispatch.
Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the collision and determined that the collision occurred in December of 2013.
The sole occupant of the crashed vehicle was the registered owner, Vernon Thomen age 76 of Libby. He had received fatal injuries from a collision with a large tree after his vehicle went off the roadway.
He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was reported as missing on December 19, 2013 to Lincoln County Sheriff Department but was not found until Feb 27, 2014.
Next of kin have been notified as of 2/28/14.
