MISSOULA, Mont. - A man is headed to trial after pleading not guilty to rape charges.
Kenneth Edward Whatley is accused of breaking into a woman's home and raping her in December 2003.
It took almost a decade for investigators to link DNA to the case and find Whatley in Arizona.
Investigators say that sample matched up with DNA evidence collected in 2003 from left at the alleged victim's house.
Investigators say Whatley took the screen off a window and crawled in the home through the woman's kitchen. Court records say once inside the home Whatley raped the woman and tied her up so he could escape.
He's scheduled to go to trial on three charges, sexual intercourse without consent, attempted sexual intercourse without consent, and burglary.
