Rams look to defend state title

MISSOULA, Mont. - For the second time this season Missoula Loyola will play Jefferson High, but this time around there's a trip to the state title game on the line.

"We've played Jefferson before and we beat them, said Loyola senior Jacob McElroy. "We know that they're going to come in here with revenge and they're going to want to beat us. We just have to stay focused like we have been and I think we will be fine."

"We can't overlook them that's for sure, said Loyola senior Matt McHugh. "We haven't won anything yet, they're a great team they were when we played them before and they will be again."

"It's really hard to beat a good football team twice in the same season, said Loyola head football coach Dan Weber. "We have to execute really well on both sides of the ball offensively and defensively."

The Rams are just two wins away from defending their state championship, something that's helped keep the team hungry throughout the season.

"We'll it's the state championship, it's the ultimate goal of winning that state championship that keeps us going week in and week out," said McHugh.

"We won state last year and we know what a great feeling that is, said McElroy. "We just want to reach that again, these freshman they didn't know what it was like so we want them to realize what it's like. We also want to get another ring, it would be cool to walk out of my high school career with two rings."

Saturday's game between Loyola and Jefferson will kick off at 1 p.m. in Missoula.
