Hundreds attend community sing-a-long in Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. - Sunday afternoon the sound of Christmas songs filled the Roxy Theatre in Missoula at the 3rd annual Missoula Community Chorus sing-a-long.

The Missoula Community Chorus hosted the screening of the 1954 holiday classic 'White Christmas' starring Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and Danny Kaye.

Attendees were encouraged to dress up and sing-a-long to the movies classics like 'White Christmas,' 'The Old Man,' and 'Sisters.'

We talked with Missoula Community Chorus manager Andrew Morris who tells us the idea to do a sing-a-long was sparked several years ago; he says the first year the choir aired the film ‘The Sound of Music,' and encouraged attendees to sing-a-long.

Morris tells us last year they invited the community to come sing along to ‘The Wizard of Oz,' but this year they wanted to do a Christmas sing-a-long.

"The whole point of the event for us was to find an outreach event where we can get people coming in and singing and doing things that they normally wouldn't do," says Morris.  "Then hopefully maybe they want to do more of that and get interested in the Missoula Community Chorus."

Morris tells us the annual sing-a-long draws in more viewers every year.  This year over 600 people attended the event.
