MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula emergency crews scrambled to a chopper crash in the Clark Fork River off of Big Flat Rd. right side up.
A pilot and his passenger - who was observing from land at the time - are both safe.
The chopper's owners, a company from Lewiston, Idaho, and emergency crews are still trying to figure out how to get the helicopter out of the water.
We're told the pilot was practicing water bucket drops, preparing for wildfire season.
Neighbors in the area said they see this helicopter training at least once a week, so it was nothing new, until they saw it nose dive, and heard the crash in the river.
Sgt. Robert Kennedy from the Missoula County Sheriff's Office said there is no threat of fuel leaking in the water, and the craft did not catch fire. In addition he said there is no debris.
